Yesterday's ruling by the UK's Supreme Court will doubtless have significance for any woman in Ireland wondering if legal action can be taken over males being permitted to use female facilities e.g. in the workplace or schools.
IHREC says the exploitation of vulnerable women for surrogacy is 'one of the most concerning, novel and emerging forms of trafficking'. "Yet we have enacted a law that legalises what the UN special rapporteur on human rights has called 'the sale of children'."

Why should the Government fund any organisation which lobbies to have men and boys enabled to play in women's and girl's sports? State funding for this looks very much like discrimination against women and girls.

The General Scheme of the Gender Recognition Act 2013 contained Head 26 which allowed sporting bodies to exclude participants in the interests of safety and fairness. Who opposed it? TENI of course but also, unbelievably, the IHRC, now the @_IHREC.

Today is the deadline set by the HSE for TENI, the Transgender Equality Network Ireland, to file its overdue accounts which are late for the third year in a row. Why too have other funders withheld monies from TENI?
Why should women and girls be expected to have fully intact males, who claim to have an undefinable "gender identity", in our private spaces?
If our equality legislation is amended to include "gender identity" it may effectively abolish women's and girl's right to single-sex provision of services or spaces. Why should the demands of some men override the rights of women and girls?
There are only two sexes, which hormones or surgery don't alter. Amending our equality legislation to include males who claim a female "gender identity" risks losing the protections women and girls have on account of our sex. Please let Oireachtas members know your views.
The exemption under gender in our equality legislation was clearly provided to protect women and girls. If men claiming to have a female "gender identity" are now to be included, what protection for single-sex facilities will there be in future for women and girls?
