Prior to the significant rise in 2015 these were the figures for children from Ireland referred to the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) at the Tavistock (another one later confirmed was referred in 2009); less than five more to University College Hospital London also.

A study of those with suspected or confirmed gender dysphoria between 2005 and 2014 in St. Columcille's found that

"159 of the patients were MTF and 59 were FTM, accounting for 72.9% and 27.1% of the cohort,.."

So almost three quarters were adult men.

Between ages 16 - 18 there were 110 women to 46 men. Yet aged 51+ the sexes were reversed with 3 women to 63 men in the 2023 report on the Register of Gender Recognition:
