The 2020 Programme for Government promised to

"Amend the gender ground in equality legislation, to ensure that someone discriminated against on the basis of their gender identity is able to avail of this legislation."

The General Scheme has now been published but there's no obvious mention of "gender identity" being added to our equality legislation in the Bill.

In February @dcediy said that:

84% of submissions to the public consultation in 2021 on our equality legislation related to "gender": “Throughout the  submissions, the proposal to specifically include gender identity within  the Equality Acts was contentious,.."

Law, not justice
If the Government’s plans to protect men’s “gender identity” in our equality legislation is successful, it may mean that women and girls will not be able to object to men or boys in our sports, schools, changing rooms.

Could it be that the legal advice obtained by @_IHREC counselled against this approach? Or is some other avenue being planned?

Yesterday's ruling by the UK's Supreme Court will doubtless have significance for any woman who is wondering if legal action can be taken over males being permitted to use female facilities e.g. in the workplace or schools.
